Gencorp opens new headquarters

EAST GREENWICH – Gencorp Insurance Group, a multifaceted insurance service provider, officially opened the doors of its new headquarters at its long-time Main Street, East Greenwich home. The new head headquarters is the result of a three-story addition to an expansion of its existing space plus a complete facelift to the building it has occupied in East Greenwich since 1975.

While the new building will house operations that serve its cluster of agencies in Rhode Island and throughout the Northeast, the Main Street façade has been designed to retain the pedestrian-friendly feel, directly incorporating elements from the neighboring Varnum Armory and the town’s old Post Office directly across the street. Vision III Architects of Providence designed the facility, and construction was under the direction of PCM Inc., of East Greenwich.

The company, which has 59 employees, had revenues topping $77 million in 2001.
