Michael J. Duarte, AIE’s founder, chairman, president and CEO, developed the company’s technology from sonar algorithms used in the detection of undersea mines while he was working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the technology in September 2006.

“We are excited to now have our software in the hands of expert physicians for the screening and diagnosis of breast cancer,” Duarte said in a news release.
