APC creates new data center division

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – APC by Schneider Electric has formed a new Data Center Software business to run its data center monitoring, planning and modeling services.

“By establishing a new and dedicated software business with a clear strategy and focus, we are showing our true commitment to become the global leader in software data centers,” said APC President and CEO Laurent Vernerey.

Soeren B. Jensen, vice president of Data Center Software, APC will lead the business team and will report directly to Vernerey and a dedicated board of supervisors. The team will be responsible for software development, offer creation, marketing and sales, service and partner programs.

According to a press release from the power and cooling-services company, the Data Center Software business will focus on APC’s InfraStruxure management software products, which are designed to monitor and manage data center power, cooling, security and environment. The new business segment is also expected to simplify and support energy and operational efficiencies.

“This evolution within APC is well aligned with the Schneider Electric vision of becoming the world leader in energy management,” said Vernerey.

Team members for the Data Center Software business will be pulled from existing teams already dealing with software and management systems. Although APC plans to hire several field-based sales representatives, a company spokeswoman said it has not yet been decided whether the new staff would be based in Rhode Island or elsewhere.
