Boeing awards Astro-Med $1.4M contract

WEST WARWICK – Astro-Med Inc. has been awarded a $1.4 million contract extension by a division of Boeing Co.

The West Warwick-based specialty electronics manufacturer will provide Ethernet switches and ruggedized cockpit printers to be installed on Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.

Boeing Defense, Space & Security, formerly Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, said pilots will use the machines for printing maps, approach plates, aircraft information and ground communications, while the Ethernet switches will allow for communication between on-board computers and other aircraft equipment.

Tom Carll, sales manager for the Astro-Med T&M Product Group, said the contract is an extension of a $3 million contract Boeing awarded the company in 2007.
