CRANSTON – Ocean State Libraries, the nonprofit consortium that coordinates services between the state’s 50 public library systems, later this month will host the Digital Bookmobile, a traveling exhibit that highlights the downloadable materials offered by the nation’s libraries.
The Digital Bookmobile – a 74-foot, high-tech 18-wheel tractor-trailer with interactive demonstrations of libraries’ audiobook, e-book, music and video download services – will visit the Cranston Public Library on Monday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Digital Bookmobile is a 21st-century high-tech update of a traditional service that has been enjoyed by many library users,” said David Macksam, director of the Cranston Public Library. “The Cranston Public Library is very pleased to host the only Rhode Island visit by this unique vehicle. Step aboard on Sept. 21.”
Library patrons can download digital materials using their library card number at the Ocean State Libraries E-Zone Web site. The site is managed by OverDrive Inc., a Cleveland-based company that distributes digital content. OverDrive also operates the Digital Bookmobile.
