Feedback sought on waterfront park design

PROVIDENCE – Two upcoming public meetings will showcase the design for the parks that are to be created on two waterfront parcel made available by the Interstate 195 relocation project.
Each meeting will feature a presentation by Nina Brown, lead designer for Boston-based Brown, Richardson and Rowe’s winning entry in the Waterfront Park Design Competition.
Public feedback will be welcomed, and will be used to help refine the design for the parks, which are being constructed by the R.I. Department of Transportation, the city said. The parks, slated to be constructed in 2011, will be one of the last components of the highway relocation project.
The meetings are slated for Tuesday, May 29, at 5:30 p.m. at The Providence Foundation Auditorium, 30 Exchange Terrace; and Wednesday, June 6, at 5:30 p.m., at the Waterplace Restaurant, second floor, One Finance Way, in Waterplace Park.
A video presentation on the park proposals is available online, at www.providenceri.com/government/waterfront, where comments may be submitted electronically.
Written comments also will be accepted, through June 15, at the following address: Waterfront Park Design Public Comment, Dalrymple Boathouse, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence, RI 02903.
