PROVIDENCE – Commercialization and technology transfer firm Foresight Science and Technology Inc. said last week it has secured another federal contract and launched a new Web portal for small businesses, the latest in a string of recently announcements by the company.
Providence-based Foresight said it landed a contract from the U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH) to provide commercialization services for 50 technologies, all of which have been funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR).

Amy Spaisman, coordinator of Foresight’s Life Sciences Group, said in a statement that the new contract is a continuation of her firm’s work with the NIH and will aid the Obama administration’s efforts at health care reform.
“We have been working for NIH for several years and this new award continues our role in implementing the president’s promise to improve outcomes and lower costs of American health care,” Spaisman said.
Separately, Foresight announced the launch of its new Technical Assistance Web portal, which is designed to help small businesses access information about and secure research and development grants.
The free portal is the result of a contract between Foresight and the U.S. Department of Energy to promote commercialization and information exchange regarding funds available through SBIR and the Small Business Technology Transfer Research Program (STTR).
There is $150 million in federal funding available through the SBIR and STTR programs for the 2009 federal fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, according to Foresight. For more information or to access to the portal, visit doecapreg.foresightst.com.
