WARWICK – Local information-technology company NetCenergy has renewed its focus on small and mid-size businesses in southern New England with the launch of two new Internet-security management products for its NetCare line.
The NetCare ISM Standard Edition is designed to improve Internet security and increase Internet productivity for businesses with fewer than 25 employees. The product also offers firewall, configuration backups, and tools to report on and continuously improve security performance.
NetCenergy’s other new NetCare product, the NetCare ISM Extra, includes similar features but is designed for businesses with up to 150 employees. According to the company, the Extra edition has a more in-depth Web filtering service to better conform to the Internet usage policies of mid-sized companies.
Although a company spokeswoman for NetCenergy said that these new product offerings were not spurred by the push by U.S. Rep. James R. Langevin, D-R.I., for improved cybersecurity, NetCenergy understands the importance of security. As an IT-product and service provider, the company has witnessed the consequences of not taking proper internet security measures.
“[As] small to mid-size businesses are becoming increasingly dependent on using the Internet to conduct their day-to-day operations, Internet security has become a high priority for business owners to ensure that their company’s network infrastructure is protected both internally and externally to maximize productivity,” said NetCenergy President Donald Nokes.
NetCenergy was co-founded by Nokes and CEO Daniel Charland in 2003. The IT firm employs roughly 30 people – including contractors – in its Warwick office. Although the company was established with an emphasis on serving small to mid-size businesses, it currently provides IT assistance to a variety of companies in the health care, finance, nonprofit, manufacturing and other sectors.
