WEST KINGSTON – APC by Schneider Electric has launched a new Electrical Efficiency Assessment Service to help companies monitor the energy efficiency of their data centers.
The suite of services, which are part of APC’s Professional Services unit, include comprehensive evaluation of energy use in customers’ facilities with detailed reports on total data center input power, IT load, Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and power and cooling conditions.

Teams of APC consultants will audit existing data centers and provide clients with detailed proposals for how they can cut back on their energy usage.
“There are and will continue to be business and regulatory climates that demand increased efficiencies within the data center,” John DiPippo, APC’s senior vice president for data center solutions, services and software, said in a statement.
DiPippo said the new service would offer clients “significant return on investment as customers optimize current infrastructure and plan for future growth or consolidation.”
APC said most energy-efficiency problems can be solved with a combination of airflow and cooling-management techniques, smarter hot-cold aisle configurations and containment systems, and upgrades to UPS systems, as well as modernization of rack enclosures with new intelligent systems.
Along with the U.S., APC is offering the energy audits in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, the U.K. and Vietnam.
APC, founded in Rhode Island in 1981 as American Power Conversion Corp., was acquired by the French company Schneider Electric in 2007. The company laid off between 50 and 100 workers late last year.
