New England Medical Innovation Center opens in Providence

PROVIDENCE – An open house was held this week by the New England Medical Innovation Center and its first tenant, MedMates, a life sciences networking group.

The innovation center at 116 Chestnut St. is in the Jewelry District of Providence.

The New England Medical Innovation Center is a nonprofit that is focused on health care solutions and human-centered design. It proposes to provide expert support to innovators, entrepreneurs and startups in the medical technology field. The nonprofit features co-working space for individuals and companies in its field.

It is supported by partnerships with Lifespan Corp., Rhode Island School of Design and medical-device developer Ximedica, as well as Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co. Ltd.
