NEWPORT – “Ker Arvor,” a Louis XV revival house modeled after La Lanterne, Versailles, has been listed by Lila Delman Real Estate International for $12 million.

It’s the second-highest priced home being marketed for sale in the Ocean State, behind only the $17.5 million Seafair at 254 Ocean Ave. listed by Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty.

Ker Arvor, which means “seaside,” is at 275 Harrison Ave., off Ocean Avenue. It sits on more than 9 acres, featuring gardens, an 1840 fountain and heated pool. The property is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ker Arvor was built from 1931-1933 as the summer residence of Snowden Andrews Fahnestock. The estate’s name comes from the village in France where the owner’s regiment was stationed during World War I, and was inspired by French architecture from the Louis XV period.

Recreated hand-painted Chinese wall coverings, hardware imported from France, as well as some of the original 18th century floors, are highlights of the home. It also features modern amenities such as central air, a three-car attached garage and pool house with a kitchen and separate men’s and women’s sections.

“This property offers the buyer a sanctuary near the sea, a place to enjoy life with family and friends. This presents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire a piece of Newport’s history,” Lila Delman Real Estate International Sales Associate Kate Leonard said in a statement.
