Oncologist honored by Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island

WESTERLY – Dr. Robert Legare, a cancer specialist who practices in both Westerly and Connecticut, has been presented with the 2020 Dr. Joseph DiMase Memorial Healthcare Professional Award.

Legare received the award on Nov. 5 during the Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island’s virtual cancer summit.

Legare, who is an associate clinical professor of medical oncology and medical director of the Smilow Cancer Hospital care centers in Westerly and Waterford, Conn., was the keynote speaker for the event.

He was honored for his decades of work in improving cancer detection and access to health and social services for patients, and for his dedication to cancer prevention.
