PBN among RIPA journalism honorees

WARWICK – Providence Business News was among 21 Rhode Island newspapers and magazines recognized by the Rhode Island Press Association at its annual banquet and Hall of Fame induction, held May 4 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Crossings in Warwick.
PBN won first prize in the News Series category for its staff-written collection of the 20 biggest business stories in the last 20 years, done to celebrate the publication’s 20th anniversary.
PBN also won second prize in the business story category, for a piece on changes in nursing home care, and took a third prize for its election coverage.

Leading the way in the 31-category contest with the most winners were The Call in Woonsocket and the Newport Daily News, with 12 each, followed by Rhode Island Monthly, with 11.
Also at the event, Fred Friendly, Mae Keighley Adams, Marion M. Perkins and George E. Trafford were inducted into the Rhode Island Journalism Hall of Fame.
