PROVIDENCE – For the fifth time in the last decade, Providence Business News has re-designed PBN.com. The new site gives all readers a more immediate view of PBN’s news and data products, easier access to information about our recognition programs and summits, and new platforms for advertisers to reach the audience for the region’s premier business news organization. And as has been the case for some time, PBN.com is completely responsive to the device you are using to access it.

The home page now contains a real-time scrolling news ticker set above three featured stories that are rotated throughout the day to reflect the latest and most significant breaking business news in the region as well as highlight stories published in our award-winning weekly print edition.

Long-time readers of PBN.com will note that they still will be able to access stories grouped by major categories from the drop-down navigation bar as well as through an easy-to-access search tool. Scrolling past the three featured stories will bring readers to a list of all the publication’s stories, whether taken from that week’s print edition, our daily, single-topic e-newsletters or that day’s news, reported by PBN’s news staff as well as from Bloomberg News’ wire service.

In the daily news feed, PBN.com highlights print-edition stories with a key next to the headline, indicating that access to that story is given to subscribers only. Non-print stories are subject to PBN’s existing metered paywall – registered users can access up to three stories per month, after which they must become a subscriber.

In addition to easy access to information and application forms for PBN events, the new PBN.com will allow those wishing to attend a simplified process for purchasing tickets, one that does not require leaving the site for the transaction.

Similarly, a new section of the website, PBN Connect, collects all sponsored content available to those wishing to have access to PBN.com’s audience to present their news or demonstrate their expertise. Branded content gives individuals or companies the opportunity to share their story in their own words, engaging readers in a direct way. People on the Move allows companies and individuals to share new hires, promotions, professional milestones or any personnel news they may have. And as PBN.com has done for a number of years, Press Releases lets companies and individuals broadcast news to the region’s most business-focused news site.

One last change involves improving access to PBN’s Top Lists, which can be purchased in both PDF and Excel form directly from the site without having to navigate anywhere else.
