WARWICK – NYLO Hotels today broke ground on a facility in the mixed-use Pontiac Mills development in Warwick.
The hotel, which will be Atlanta-based NYLO’s first in the Northeast, will include a 164-room, 82,800-square-foot hotel that is expected to open next summer.
The Pontiac Mills project, which a NYLO statement said is “poised to become one of Rhode Island’s premier mixed-use developments,” will house a mix of restaurants, residences, businesses and retail shops. NYLO said that its five-story building will complement the development’s existing historical architectural design, featuring exposed brick and “polished concrete walls” in each room.
“Each bright, airy guestroom will emulate the bedroom in a contemporary home or urban loft,” the company said in a statement. “Guests will find exposed-brick-and-polished-concrete walls, 10-foot-high ceilings, luxury bedding and original artwork. Among the high-tech amenities: flat-screen LCD HDTV, free wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, and MP3 and iPod capabilities.”
NYLO is set to open its inaugural property at the end of 2007 in Plano, Texas, about 20 miles south of downtown Dallas, a company statement said. Merrill Lynch Capital will provide debt financing for both the Warwick and Plano hotels.

Atlanta-based NYLO Hotels LLC develops, owns and operates mid-scale, full-service hotels designed for business travelers and weekend leisure guests. For more information, go to www.nylohotels.com.
