Preserve R.I. issues call for grant applicants

PROVIDENCE – Preserve Rhode Island, the statewide historic preservation education and advocacy group, says the deadline is nearing for “mini-grants” to aid local historic preservation projects.
Individuals and organizations seeking support for projects across the state have until Oct. 29 to apply for the Preserve Rhode Island-Citizens Bank Foundation Mini-Grants.
The money may be used for historic preservation and planning fees, project designs, “emergency intervention” for historic properties, or the creation of preservation education projects. Professional fees training is ineligible, as are regular maintenance and repairs.
Grants to nonprofits range from $300 to 1,000. A 100-percent match is required and must be in funds, not in kind.  •
