PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island was $2.64 per gallon, an increase of 9 cents week to week and 8 cents below the national average of $2.72 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
One year prior, the average price of regular gas in the state was $2.46 per gallon.
“Barring hurricane season, March may bring the most expensive pump prices of 2021,” said Lloyd Albert, senior vice president of public and government affairs for AAA Northeast, in a statement. “While the month is roaring in like a lion, by the end of it we could see some relief at the pump as refineries resume normal operations, especially if crude oil prices show signs of stability.”
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.95 per gallon this week in Rhode Island.
- Premium gas averaged $3.18 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $2.91 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas was $2.65 per gallon this week, a rise of 8 cents week to week and 18 cents higher year over year.
- Midgrade gas in Massachusetts averaged $2.91 per gallon.
- Premium gas averaged $3.14 per gallon.
- Diesel fuel averaged $2.91 per gallon.
