
PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island dropped to $3.26 per gallon on Tuesday, 7 cents less than last week but still 16 cents higher than the national average, according to AAA Northeast.
Monday’s R.I. average is 44 cents lower than a month ago and down 11 cents year over year.

“Increasing supply and soft gasoline demand are pushing pump prices lower,” said Diana Gugliotta, director of Public Affairs for AAA Northeast. “Gasoline throughout the Northeast is now cheaper than the same time last year, which might have seemed unimaginable when prices peaked at record highs this past summer.”
Midgrade gas in Rhode Island averaged $3.91 per gallon on Monday.
Premium gas averaged $4.24 per gallon.
Diesel fuel averaged $5.19 per gallon.
In Massachusetts, the average price of regular gas decreased 6 cents from a week ago, to $3.37 per gallon.
One year ago, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in the Bay State was $3.38 per gallon.
Midgrade gas in Massachusetts averaged $3.96 per gallon on Monday.
Premium gas averaged $4.30 per gallon.
Diesel fuel averaged $5.23 per gallon.
