SEED Corp. to host small-business workshops

QUINCY, Mass. – The South Eastern Economic Development Corp. will partner with Eastern Bank to host a series of business workshops on May 3 for aspiring and veteran entrepreneurs, in celebration of National Small Business Week.

As a regional economic-development organization, SEED Corp. works with other economic-development institutions to ensure that entrepreneurs get the assistance they need to be successful. This week’s workshops will be held at The Fours Restaurant, located at 15 Cottage Ave. in Quincy.

The first session, held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is entitled “Learn the Fundamentals in Planning, Preparing and Financing Your Business” and aims to help new or potential entrepreneurs understand the fundamentals of business ownership. Attendees will receive a free guide to writing a business plan and information about where and how to get business financing.

The second session will be held in the afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Titled “Understanding the Purpose of Financial Statements and How They Can Help Determine the Health of Your Business,” this session will help attendees understand balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, as well as how to operate a financially efficient business.

The workshops are free to attend and held in cooperation with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center, the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Women & Enterprise, the city of Quincy, and the SCORE Association.
