WARWICK – The R.I. Airport Corporation has selected Interlink, a name partly suggested by a group of recent Bryant University graduates, as the permanent moniker for the new intermodal facility at T.F. Green Airport.

RIAC had invited students concentrating in business, marketing or communications at Rhode Island colleges and universities to submit branding proposals for the intermodal facility.

The facility was 78 percent complete as of May 28 and remains on schedule to open this fall. It will bring together the airport, a new commuter-rail station served by the MBTA, intercity bus connections and rental car services.

Bryant seniors Justin Andrews, Jack Antonowicz, Brittany Beckerman, Jaquelyn Parr and Pat Sargent, with the help of Mara Chapin and Hillary Smith, submitted a proposal to call it Link. The students, all marketing majors at Bryant who graduated in May, were guided by Jean Murray, a lecturer at the university.

From there, the Airport Corporation’s ad agency RDW Group turned it into Interlink, designed a logo and came up with a slogan, “Connecting you to New England.”

“These talented Bryant University seniors researched the project and presented creative ideas for a name and tagline, but also went beyond the requirements and offered a logo and sample marketing recommendations,” RIAC President and CEO Kevin Dillon said in a news release.

“Their efforts provided us with a good baseline to work from as we brand this facility for its regional connectivity and broad national and global appeal to airlines and travelers alike,” he said.

Bryant’s marketing department will be awarded $1,000 in recognition of the students’ and Murray’s contribution to the intermodal project.
