SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The University of Rhode Island announced late Tuesday that a new master’s degree in management will be introduced at the state’s land-grant school’s College of Business this coming fall.
URI says the new 30-credit strategic leadership program will cultivate students’ capabilities to lead with data-driven discernment and problem-solving, allowing graduates to become innovative leaders for their respective organizations. The program allows students to complete a "generalist program,” URI said, with a focus on strategic leadership or to specialize in an array of leadership-related areas, such as sports management, human resources and financial technology.
“This program was created to meet the evolving needs of today’s workforce and tomorrow’s leaders,” said Christy Ashley, a marketing professor at URI who also serves as the program’s interim director, in a statement. “Whether you're just graduating or seeking to advance your career, URI's [new degree program] will help you to stand out in a competitive job market.”
The university says the new master’s program is open to prospective students of all educational backgrounds. However, a four-year degree is required to enter the program.
Applicants have until Aug. 15 to enroll in the master’s program’s inaugural fall class, URI said, and can do so through
the university’s website.
