NORTH KINGSTOWN – Applied Radar Inc. recently received a $1.4 million two-year Small Business Innovation Research contract from the U.S. Department of Defense.
The research and development firm is teaming with the Ohio State University Electroscience Laboratory to develop and test a multichannel digital receiver/exciter for phased-array antenna systems.

William Weedon, president/CEO of Applied Radar, said the project joins years of his company’s SBIR-funded research and development in this type of technology with one of the nation’s “premier” electrical engineering research institutions.
Said Greg Creech, OSU-ESL assistant director, “This is perfect example of a leading research university teaming with a small business to provide value to the U.S. government.”
The technology is used in ground and airborne communications, radar and electronic sensing.
