PROVIDENCE – The Hasbro Children’s Hospital landed $422,431 in donations over the course of 15 hours Thursday during its 14th annual Radiothon fundraiser.
In partnership with Cumulus Providence Radio Stations (WPRO-FM 92.3, WLLI-FM 105, WPRO-AM 630/ WPRO-FM 99.7 and WWKX-FM 106.3), Hasbro Children’s Hospital patients and families shared stories of esophageal atresia, cerebral palsy, pediatric cancers and other illnesses with the stations’ listening community in Rhode Island as well as parts of Massachusetts and Connecticut.

“Hasbro Children’s Hospital touches the lives of so many children and families in southern New England. Together, we’re making a difference in the lives of children in our community,” said Holly Paras, market manager for Cumulus Providence in a prepared statement.
Broadcasting began at 6:00 a.m. at the hospital and lasted until 9:00 p.m.
More than 100 volunteers took part answering phones from prospective donors.
Margaret M. Van Bree, president of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, said in a statement she “could not be more grateful to our community for rallying together in support” of the efforts of Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
“On behalf of the patients and families who depend on our hospital, my deepest thanks goes to Cumulus Providence for their dedication to making the Radiothon possible, and for engaging their listeners in this very personal and meaningful way,” she added in her remarks.
Since its inception, the Radiothon has raised more than $8 million for Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Funds raised during yesterday’s Radiothon will go to support patient care, lifesaving programs and research.
