PROVIDENCE – More than 50 restaurants from the city’s “sizzling culinary scene” will take part in the second annual Providence Restaurant Week, slated for July 15 to 21, the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau announced.
This year’s sponsors include American Express; The Restaurant Review, a regional online dining guide and reservation service that is serving as administrator for the event Web site, ProvidenceRestaurantWeek.com, where visitors may preview event menus for participating restaurants and make reservations; Grey Goose Vodka; Rhode Island Monthly magazine; WHJJ and WHJY radio; and Johnson & Wales University.
Participating restaurants, from Big Fish to Zooma, will offer a special three-course, prix fixe menu to “please the palate and the wallet,” the CVB said. Each menu will include an appetizer or salad, an entrée and a dessert.
Prices will be $12.95 for lunch and $29.95 for dinner; casual dining sites such as pubs and cafés may offer two-for-$12.95 or two-for-$29.95 specials. Restaurants also will be offering Restaurant Week cocktails featuring Grey Goose Vodka.
Reservations are available now to American Express card holders and will be available to the general public starting Monday, June 25.
“Providence is nationally recognized for its outstanding restaurants,” said Martha Sheridan, the CVB’s president and CEO since June 2006, noting that the local restaurant scene was featured in this month’s issue of Food & Wine magazine.
“Providence Restaurant Week gives locals and tourists alike an opportunity to try all of the restaurants that they have been hearing and reading about.”
More venues may be added. All restaurants in Providence or with membership in the PWCVB are eligible to participate in Restaurant Week; for details, contact the CVB at 456-0200 or info@pwcvb.com.
