Commercial and industrial property insurer FM Global this year climbed 12 spots to No. 578 on the Fortune magazine list of the nation’s top companies based on 2006 revenue, while home and commercial HVAC and home technology manufacturer Nortek Inc. climbed 10 spots to No. 810.
They were among the six Rhode Island companies that made the 2007 Fortune 1000. The Ocean State companies, with their rankings, are:
• Woonsocket-based CVS/Caremark Corp. (www.cvscaremark.com) – climbing two spots to No. 51, from last year’s 53 – with $43.81 billion in annual revenue and a profit of $1.37 billion in 2006.
• Providence-based Textron Inc. (www.textron.com) – slipping four spots to No. 194, from last year’s 190 – with revenue of $12.59 billion and profits of $601 million.
• Johnston-based FM Global (www.fmglobal.com) – climbing 12 spots to No. 578, from last year’s 590 – with revenue of $3.47 billion and profits of $737 million. FM Global debuted on the list in 2003 at No. 697. A policyholder-owned mutual insurance company whose roots in Rhode Island stretch back to 1835, it has clients in more than 100 nations, including a third of the current Fortune 1000.
• Pawtucket-based Hasbro Inc. (www.hasbro.com) – slipping 24 spots to No. 626, from last year’s 602 – with revenue of $3.15 billion and profits of $230 million.
• Providence-based Nortek Inc.( www.nortek-inc.com) – climbing 10 spots to No. 810, from last year’s 820 – with revenue of $2.18 billion and profits of $113 million.
• Lincoln-based Amica Mutual Insurance Co. (www.amica.com) – falling 62 spots to No. 975, from 913 last year – with revenue of $1.63 billion and profits of $267 million.
