Turnover in IT department nearly 20%, survey says

Average turnover in an information technology department is nearly 20 percent a year, according to
a survey of chief information officers at some 1,400 companies
throughout the United States.
The survey was conducted by RHI Consulting, a national human
resources company that specializes in the placement of information
technology professionals. The firm has an office in Providence.
Companies were asked “What is the average annual turnover rate among
employees in the typical information technology department?”
According to the RHI survey, which included only companies with more
than 100 employees selected randomly throughout the country, the mean
response to the question was 19 percent.
RHI said about 20 percent of the companies reported the annual
attrition rate at about 25 percent.
