SEEKONK – Southcoast Smiles will offer the uninsured free dental care, from X-rays to fillings and extractions, during their 10th annual Dentistry from the Heart event on Saturday, Sept. 30, first-come, first-served.
A team of dentists and hygienists will provide dental exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions to anyone 18 years or older, guaranteed to the first 200 people to show up during the event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day. Appointments are not necessary, but visitors are advised to arrive early to register.

This is the 10th annual event for Dr. David J. Ahearn, who has donated over $700,000 in dental care to more than 2,000 residents.
“All year long, our doctors create magnificent smiles for working people who can afford dental care. However, our health care system is broken, too many people fall through the cracks. I knew that I couldn’t fix the system, but I also knew that I had to help those around us that simply had no other resources. It is entirely different than what we do every other day of the year, creating great smiles for those that can’t afford outstanding care,” Ahern said.
“Our team looks forward to this event all year because we know there are many people out there who simply can’t afford dental care at this time,” said Ashley Brown, marketing leader at Southcoast Smiles.
Last year, dental professionals at the event donated more than $75,000 of treatment to more than 200 people in need, Brown said.
