PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island capital made the short list of most restaurants serving pizza per capita, ranking No. 10 in the nation, according to a Datafiniti study released last week.
Providence’s pizza spot per 100,000 residents was 16.7. Orlando ranked No. 1 in the study, with 21.6 pizza restaurants per 100,000. Priceonomics used data from a 2007-2010 USDA study to come up with the ranking.

Rhode Island ranked even higher than the Capital City, with an average of 11.6 pizza restaurants per 100,000 people. Topping the list was Connecticut, at 13.2 per 100,000, followed by Massachusetts, 11.7 per 100,000.
The study also ranked the price of a large plain pizza in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Rhode Island had the seventh least expensive pizza price in the nation, with a median price of $8.95. Alaska boasted the cheapest pizza in the nation at $7.25. North Dakota serves the highest median-priced pizza in the country at $14 per pie.
