PROVIDENCE – Benny’s final open store will close on Monday at 5 p.m., the company announced Friday.
The final store is located at 473 Putnam Pike in Smithfield.

All remaining merchandise in the store is 70 percent off.
The store will also be open after Monday for abbreviated hours, to be announced, or by appointment, in order to sell store fixtures and equipment.

Benny’s announced it would close all of its 31 stores in the region earlier this year. The first Benny’s was opened in 1924. The company cited a desire to retire and a declining local retail market that was threatened by online retail purveyors such as Amazon.
