MIDDLETOWN – California-based retail-delivery company Instacart, with partners all over the U.S., expands into Middletown on April 19.
In addition to delivery service, the company said it also needs to hire about 100 shoppers to serve customers in Middletown, Portsmouth, Newport and Jamestown.

According to an announcement from Instacart, customers can order items from BJ’s Wholesale Club, Shaw’s, CVS, and, as of April 26, Petco, with items delivered to their door in as little as an hour.
“Over the past year we’ve seen incredible demand in the Middletown area,” said Walker Dieckmann, general manager, Instacart. “We’re also excited to build a world-class shopper community, where we can offer fun and flexible income-earning opportunities for our shoppers.”
With Instacart, customers can order online or with the company’s mobile app. They select their store, items they want and a delivery window. An Instacart shopper accepts the order and delivers the items in the designated time frame. Orders of $35 or more have a delivery fee of $5.99; members can also get an Instacart Express membership of $149 a year with free same-day deliveries on orders of $35 or more.
