PROVIDENCE – More than 600 International Game Technology PLC employees across the globe participated in the gaming company’s first-ever Global Giving Week from May 6-12.

During the week, IGT employees were provided a paid workday off to volunteer at a nonprofit organization of their choice. Charity work completed on those days included preparing meals for the homeless, working with shelter animals, assisting the elderly and cleaning up area parks and green spaces.
The largest IGT group, 28 IGT employees, volunteered to clean up the playground and picnic areas at Mercer Lake in the Mercer County Parks System in New Jersey. IGT is planning a donation to the park in honor of the volunteer work committed there.
Employees from the U.S., U.K., Canada, Italy, China, Australia, Czech Republic, Barbados, St. Marteen, Trinidad & Tobago, and Spain were involved in the global event.
“Given the success of this inaugural year, we are planning to make Global Giving Week an annual event,” said Wiczek.
