Washington Trust kicks off annual peanut butter drive

WESTERLY – The Washington Trust Co. kicked off its 20th annual peanut butter drive with more than 3,000 pounds of peanut butter at a recent employee appreciation event, according to a news release.

The annual drive runs through the end of April and benefits the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and local food pantries. The company has collected 130 tons of peanut butter since starting the drive in 2001 – enough to make 4 million peanut butter sandwiches, the release stated.

Donations are accepted at any Washington Trust branch or office location. People can also donate online to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank by visiting peanutbutterbank.com.

Washington Trust will also hold a collection at its free community shred drive on March 28.
