FALL RIVER – Bristol Community College is currently investigating what the college calls a criminal cyberattack where hackers attempted to damage the college’s computer network.
In a Dec. 30 message to the campus community, Bristol Community College said it discovered an unauthorized access to its computer systems on or around Dec. 23. The college said it discovered a network interruption issue impacting onsite internet and network functions, such as email, shared document sites and information systems for both students and employees.

The college said it subsequently launched an investigation into the hack and its extent. As of now, Bristol Community College has “no forensic evidence” that any data or personal information has been compromised, the college said. If the investigation determines that such information was compromised, the college, it said, will contact the impacted individuals directly.
While the investigation takes place, Bristol Community College says various college services, including its enrollment center, student accounts and financial aid, will only be available on a limited basis by either phone or walk-in. The college says there will be delays in both admitting new students and preparing financial aid packages during this period.
Also, students will not have access to their final 2022 fall grades until the network interruption is resolved, the college said. Bristol Community College has also extended its spring course payment deadline to Jan. 12 due to the cyberattack issue.
