JAMESTOWN – An oceanfront house originally built as a summer home for an heir to Bethlehem Steel has sold for $2.4 million, the second-highest sale for Jamestown in the last year.
The house, at 177 Beavertail Road, is known as Meeresblick. It is a classic 19th century estate, according to Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty, which represented the sellers.

The house originally was built as a summer home by Joshua and Joanna Lippincott. He was an heir to Lippincott Publishing and she was the daughter of Joseph Wharton, of Bethlehem Steel, founder of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
