Former Rep. Julie Casimiro, D-North Kingstown, recently resigned under pressure to give up her General Assembly seat after moving to South Carolina.
She moved as of July 1 but planned to serve out her term before retiring, saying she was concerned there would be no one able to serve her constituents the rest of the year.

She initially resisted calls to resign. But on Sept. 1 told Attorney General Peter F. Neronha’s office she had changed her mind, noting the criticism from Neronha and others was tarnishing her 10 years of service in the legislature.
