TAUNTON – Brown University Health is now accepting patients at its very first Massachusetts primary care practice.

Located at 2005 Bay St., the new practice offers services that include illness diagnosis and treatment, annual physical exams, chronic disease management, immunizations and preventive screenings, according to the announcement.
“Primary care is so essential to our foundation of care, and the inaugural opening of a Brown Health primary care practice in Massachusetts signifies tremendous progress in our efforts to expand access to high-quality primary care in more and more communities in the region,” Dr. Edward McGookin, chief of primary care for the medical group, said in a statement.
Serving those in the Greater Taunton and Foxborough, Mass., areas, the practice is staffed by family medicine physicians Dr. Charelle Allen and Dr. David Kerzer.
“Listening to and then meeting the community’s need for more primary care has been a driving force for Brown Health Primary Care’s establishing its Taunton practice,” McGookin said. “By consistently investing in providers, care teams, technology, and new practice locations, we are impacting patient experience via access, and physician satisfaction via our support of personalized, coordinated care.”
Brown Health’s medical group operates more than 25 primary care locations in adult, family and pediatric medicine throughout Rhode Island, according to the organization’s website.
Brown Health Medical Group Primary Care was formerly known as Coastal Medical before its parent company, Lifespan Corp., rebranded as Brown University Health in 2024.
