PROVIDENCE – A historic Colonial Revival home on Prospect Street on the city’s East Side recently sold for $3.4 million, according to Residential Properties Ltd., which represented the seller.
This is one of the five highest single-family home sales in Providence year to date, according to Residential Properties, citing records from the Rhode Island Statewide Multiple Listing Service.

The 102 Prospect St. property was built in 1906 for Dr. Henry A. Whitmarsh and designed by Providence architectural firm Clarke & Howe, according to Residential Properties. The home contains approximately 5,885 square feet of living space over three floors, with six bedrooms and six bathrooms, including four full bathrooms and two half-baths.
The property sits on a 9,487-square-foot lot, or about 0.22 acres, on a prominent corner in the College Hill neighborhood, according to the real estate firm.
The first floor includes a center hall, library with custom built-ins, living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast nook, butler’s pantry and mudroom, the real estate firm said. The home also has hardwood and ceramic tile flooring, six fireplaces and a side porch overlooking the garden.
The second floor includes four bedrooms, including the primary bedroom with a private bathroom and walk-in dressing room, as well as two additional bedroom suites and a study, according to Residential Properties. The third floor has a recreation room, two additional bedrooms and a vintage bathroom, while the property also includes a two-car garage.
According to the Providence property assessor’s database, the property had a 2026 total assessment of $2.9 million, consisting of $721,300 for the land, $2.17 million for the building and $11,900 for an outbuilding.
Jim DeRentis of Residential Properties represented the seller, while the Mackinney Gold Group of Serhant represented the buyer, according to Residential Properties.
According to the warranty deed, the property was sold by Brian Krex and Vanessa Ward of Providence and was purchased by Melissa Sydney and the 102 Prospect Street Realty Trust of Boston.
