PROVIDENCE – University Orthopedics Inc. has been named the official orthopedic provider for nearly all of Providence College’s Division I varsity teams.
Through University Orthopedics’ multiyear partnership with Providence College Athletics, the provider will offer 19 of the college’s 21 DI varsity teams orthopedic and sports medicine care, with a particular focus on injury prevention, treatment and recovery, according to a Sept. 18 announcement from University Orthopedics.

The partnership covers teams in cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and volleyball.
“These student-athletes put an incredible amount of work into competing at the highest level, and our goal is to provide the specialized care they need to stay healthy, recover from injuries, and get back to the sports they love,” Dr. Julia Katarincic, University Orthopedics president, said in the announcement.
Through the partnership, University Orthopedics will receive a number of promotional benefits, including in-venue signage, digital content, radio integrations and other branded initiatives.
“We are excited to be partnering with one of the premier orthopedic care teams in the nation,” Steve Napolillo, director of Providence College Athletics, said in the release. “The health and welfare of our student-athletes is always our top priority. We are grateful for the support and generosity of University Orthopedics, which allows our athletes to compete at the highest level.”
Based in Providence, University Orthopedics operates 10 Rhode Island practices and four in Massachusetts, according to its website. The provider’s clinicians also serve as faculty members within the Department of Orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
