Taco gift to help URI oceanography student

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The University of Rhode Island Foundation last week announced a $100,000 charitable gift from the Taco/White Family Foundation aimed at helping at least one oceanography graduate student.
According to a statement, the gift will leverage matching funds through the Robert D. Ballard Endowed Fellowship Challenge, which will further enhance the impact of the gift, which came from Taco Inc.’s charitable foundation.
The donation will be used to help cover the education of one or more graduate students whose academic course of study is directly associated with the Graduate School of Oceanography’s Center for Ocean Exploration. Selected graduate students will be “highly talented individuals whose academic course of study is in the field of geological oceanography,” the statement said. &#8226
