PORTSMOUTH – The ribbon and rosettes manufacturer Hodges Badge has acquired California-based Melrose Ribbons, the company announced on Monday without releasing the financial details of the agreement.
The specialized machinery acquired in the deal is being shipped to Hodges’ Washington, Mo., factory and will increase the company’s capacity and automation in its manufacturing process.

Negotiations have been underway since last year when the Melrose Ribbons owner suggested that he was looking to retire during an industry conference, said Jessica Willis, a Hodges Badge representative.
“We are excited to announce an agreement with Melrose Ribbons,” said Rick Hodges, president of Hodges Badge, in a press statement. “I am confident this move puts Hodges in a position for continued profitability.”
Hodges Badge, founded in 1920 and headquartered in Portsmouth, will continue to serve Melrose Ribbons customers, the company said.
