Rhode Island’s Future blog getting new owners again, developing mobile app

PROVIDENCE – Progressive political blog Rhode Island’s Future is changing ownership.
Brian Hull, editor of Rhode Island’s Future and owner of its parent company, RIFuture Inc., on June 22 announced plans to sell the RI Future blog, citing his recent acceptance into the master’s in public policy degree program in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Hull had purchased the site in September 2009.
In his announcement, he said the organizational structure will evolve from him owning the blog to a board of directors owning it collaboratively.
Rhode Island’s Future website provides a forum for debate and discussion of issues in Rhode Island including criminal justice, civil rights, the economy, education and taxes.
Hull is having a mobile app created for the site, which would allow people to read and comment on the blog using their mobile devices. He posted the announcement to the website on July 10. The post also appealed to readers and contributors to the site for donations in order to help pay for having the mobile app created.
Including Hull, the site has 17 contributing bloggers currently listed. •
