The Greater Providence Board of Realtors has named Joseph McCarthy, a sales associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, as its 2009 Realtor of the Year.
McCarthy currently serves as the 2009 corporate secretary for the Greater Providence Board of Realtors and is chairman of its Statewide Cultural Diversity Committee. He also serves on the Greater Providence Board’s executive committee.
The Greater Providence Board of Realtors praised McCarthy for both his professional and educational work in the real estate industry. He has been a recognized leader in promoting homebuyer education through his work with local community-development organizations, the board said.
“In his capacity on the Greater Providence Board of Realtors, he has brought a variety of educational programs forward to assist Realtors and their clients in the real estate transaction,” the board said in a statement. “His leadership and vision are assets to this board, the Realtor organization, his company and his peers in the real estate business.”
In addition to his professional real estate work, McCarthy has performed philanthropic work through the Coldwell Banker Cares charity foundation, the board said.
McCarthy currently holds an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation and a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation from the National Association of Realtors.
