BOSTON – Massachusetts announced last week that planning for construction of a new interchange on Route 24 is moving forward under an “aggressive timeline.”
Gov. Deval L. Patrick said the “shovel-ready” project will use federal highway stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The $70 million Route 24 project includes a new Exit 8B interchange, as well as the construction of new access roads that will provide economic benefits to Freetown and Fall River by improving access to commercial developments. Patrick’s statement said that the transportation project builds on $17 million in economic-development grants that his administration awarded earlier this year for the creation of the Fall River Executive Park. •
