Rumford Center completes newest phase

EAST PROVIDENCE – The Rumford Center development has completed its most recent construction phase, with the installation of an 1,800-pound sign on the project’s anchor building.
The rising of the sign leaves only the smaller, interior buildings still to be completed, said Greg Richard, president of Kirkbrae Development Corp. His company is developing the project through a partnership with Peregrine Group LLC, dubbed PK Rumford.
The sign – with more than 900 high-efficiency light-emitting-diode (LED) module lights – is more than 30 feet tall and 10 feet thick. It has an aluminum frame and steel support structure and was built by Metro Sign & Awning Co. of Tewksbury, Mass. Creating the sign was an eight-month process, according to JV Consulting, the project’s marketing manager.
As of early September, managers of the 270,000-square-foot Rumford Center said they had found tenants for about 4,500 square feet of retail space, out of 6,000 available; and eight apartments, of the complex’s 80-unit total. (READ MORE)
