BOSTON – A Massachusetts-based property management firm last month agreed to a settlement of nearly $320,000 with the Environmental Protection Agency in response to complaints that the company and its associated property owners violated lead paint disclosure laws at rental properties.
Under the settlement, Chestnut Hill Realty Corp. and the property owners will pay $28,538 in penalties and will perform window-replacement work totaling $289,500 for the violations in Rhode Island and the Great Boston area.
According to an EPA news release, the agency conducted five on-site inspections at properties managed by Chestnut Hill. The inspections revealed violations at every location, the release said.
Chestnut Hill manages over 5,000 residential apartment units in the region.
