R.I. state Web site gets upgrade, adds services

PROVIDENCE – The State of Rhode Island launched a renovated Web site last week that aims to make government information and services easier to obtain.
According to a news release, the site, www.ri.gov, has added several guides, including how-to guides for new residents, government information translated into Spanish “by an actual person and not software,” and a resource guide for the state’s disabled residents.
Other advantages the new site boasts include: an option to sign up to have state agency news and events delivered to your e-mail box; tracking of important government information, which allows for the adding of meetings on services such as iGoogle and My Yahoo; and the option to sign up for more than 50 local, state and national RSS feeds.
