PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island gasoline prices rose an average of 1 cent per gallon over the past week, after falling for five consecutive weeks, according to AAA Southern New England. The self-serve prices for midgrade and premium unleaded were unchanged.
AAA’s July 9 survey of gas prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, unleaded regular averaging $2.939 per gallon, 18 cents less than at the beginning of the year and 3 cents less than the new national average. One year ago, the average price was $3.059.

The range in prices for self-serve regular in the latest survey was 29 cents, from a low of $2.819 to a high of $3.109, the nonprofit auto club reported. AAA reported wider price ranges for other grades of fuel, and advised motorists to shop around.
Average self-serve prices for other grades of fuel this week were $3.079 per gallon for midgrade unleaded; $3.199 for premium unleaded; and $2.959 for diesel.
