Mott & Chace was founded in 2013 by Ray Mott and Judy Chace and is affiliated with the Sotheby’s International Realty network. The firm expanded its Rhode Island presence in 2016 through the acquisition of Coleman Realtors, a brokerage that had been established in 1929. The acquisition expanded Mott & Chace’s presence into Barrington and East Greenwich.

The company opened its eighth Rhode Island office in Bristol in 2024, according to Providence Business News. At the time, the firm operated offices in Charlestown, Providence, Westerly, Narragansett, East Greenwich, Barrington and Westport, in addition to the new Bristol location.

The new Providence location gives the firm a presence in Wayland Square, an area on Providence’s East Side with a mix of residential and commercial properties. Mott & Chace recently held a grand opening for the office and described it as its new Providence home.

According to the Providence property assessor’s database, Wayland LLC is the owner of record for the property. The property last changed hands in August 2021, when it sold for $700,000, according to the assessor’s records.
