LINCOLN – Lincoln Park today officially opened its 160,000-square-foot addition, with a ribbon-cutting at the site’s north entrance this morning at 11 that also marked the gambling venue’s adoption of a new name.
The facility recently began advertising as Twin River, but the name-change didn’t become official until today, according to Cynthia Stern, vice president of public relations for the former Lincoln Park, whose address is 100 Twin River Road.

The addition’s opening proved a potent draw for patrons. “It’s crazy, it’s busy, it’s absolutely packed,” Stern said in a midday telephone interview from Twin River, which ow has 4,792 video slot machines, as well as greyhound and simulcast racing, dining and entertainment.
“Carmine’s [restaurant] doesn’t officially open until next week,” she added, though it will be hosting private parties through the weekend. “But other than that, everything’s ready to go.”
The ribbon-cutting this morning was attended by “a few hundred people,” Stern said. Members of Unite Here!, the union representing 150 employees at Twin River, had said they might picket the event. “They did not,” Stern said. “Nobody was here on the property.”
But Jenna Karlin of Unite Here! said the union members who were handing out leaflets today remained outside the property because Twin River – which previously has allowed leafletting right outside its doors – this week has forbidden protests on its property. “They had us out on Twin River Road,” she said.
