PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island’s state Web site and the state’s Marine No Septic Discharge Online Compliance System Web site were both honored in the 2006 Best of the Web national competition for Web-site excellence.
The competition is conducted by the Center for Digital Government, an international research and advisory institute on the use of information technology in government.
Both of the Rhode Island Web sites are run in partnership with the eGovernment firm NIC.

The state Web site, www.RI.gov, was ranked in the Top 10 for delivering essential services through the portal, and the marine Web site received honors in the government-to-business category.
The sites were judged on innovation, Web-based delivery of public services, efficiency, economy and functionality.
